Pony Plop Fundraiser

When I first heard about a Pony Plop fundraiser, the idea made me laugh... and then it made me stand up and notice that this fun idea could actually be very profitable.

LOCATION

The event can take place at a local farm or any large field. A large grid of 300 squares is plotted out on the ground. Make each square at least 3 square feet using the same white chalk used to line baseball fields.

POTENTIAL PROFIT & TICKET SALES

Sell 300 tickets at $20 per ticket. Each ticket is assigned a square. A pony will walk the squared field and PLOP on one of the squares. Ask your principal or city Mayor to judge to decide which is the winning square. The person with the winning square wins $2,600. The 4 squares that are touching the winning square win $100 each.

Now do the calculation... 300 squares at $20 per square is $6,000. Less the $3,000 paid out to winners leaves the school with $3,000.

Want to increase the odds for the winners to make it easier to sell tickets? I'm not sure how often a pony plops, so you may need two ponies, but offer two rounds.
  • Round 1: Grand prize is $1,000 with 4 additional $125 prizes.
  • Round 2: Grand Prize is $1,000 with 4 additional $125 prizes.

EXPENSES

Expenses are limited to some consecutively-numbered tickets printed on a home computer. There may also be a pony rental fee which may be subsidized if you can also offer pony rides for a small fee.
