Award-Winning Author Jeff Nathan

Jeff Nathan's interactive programs consist of Literacy, Cultural Arts, Music, and Comedy all rolled into one. He offers 4 types of programs from which you can choose the ones that best suit your audience. Following is a brief look at his 4 programs:

1. FUN INTERACTIVE SHOWS FOR CHILDREN

1-HOUR PROGRAM (plus book signing): $500
(see information about grants & other funding help, below)

It's a Concert! It's a Comedy Show! It's a RIOT! Music, laughter, and fun abound in this magical session for families. There's loads of Jeff's exuded enthusiasm, guitar-playing, singing, and hysterical enactments from his books. You'll see, among many other unusual things, a giant fly, a flying Jeff Nathan, a fly ball, and Jeff getting soaked with flying water as he sings a different version of that famous French song "Alouette" (All Wet). Audience participation is part of the fun, from individual volunteers to song movement.

Commonly followed by a book signing, this session is GREAT FUN FOR KIDS and is literacy-oriented. If you like music, humor, and fun, don't miss out on this event!

2. FAMILY FUN INTERACTIVE SHOWS

1-HOUR PROGRAM (plus book signing): $500
Only $299 if combined with an Educational Program (*details below)

In addition to the music, laughter, and fun found in Jeff's Children's Show, his family shows, titled "Before & Laughter Words", also offer an adult-child contest, a family project, and an audience game.

Commonly followed by a book signing, this session is GREAT FAMILY FUN and is literacy-oriented. If you like music, humor, and fun for the whole family, don't miss out on this event!

3. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

FULL-DAY OF PROGRAMS: $1,199
(see information about grants, other funding help, and adding an evening Family Fun Program for only $299, below)

If you are looking for a program that gets students so excited about poetry that they start writing poetry in their free time, if you want them learning difficult language arts concepts with the help of right-brain activities, if you want them laughing so much they don't even realize that they are learning, and if you want to bring in the guaranteed best language arts experience your school has ever had, contact us and we will help make that happen.

A full-day is based on the school day. For instance, 8:30am-2:30pm or 9:00am-3:00pm.

Poetry comprehension (GR3 & up), similes & metaphors (GR4 & up), music, fun, and laughter (ALL). Get children excited about, learning about, and enjoying poetry with his Language Arts Education through HUMOR and Curriculum-tied LAUGHTER programs.

  • Education Through Humor - Children laugh, sing, and interact with his informative and enlightening language arts assemblies. Kids are taught important language arts lessons through enjoyable humor and music.

  • High-tech Multi-Model Programs - Powerpoint effects, movies, singing, guitar playing, drama, original entertaining poetry, all overarched by continuous humorous education.

Jeff GUARANTEES his school visits to provide the BEST, MOST FUN, AND MOST EDUCATIONAL language arts assemblies your elementary school has EVER HAD or you don't have to pay!

He also makes available for sale his fantastic poetry books sure to entertain (a fundraising opportunity - see, below). These offer countless, humorous poems for students to choose from for a school's annual Poetry Showcase.

4. MAKE YOUR STUDENTS PUBLISHED AUTHORS

With this program, your students will contribute poems and/or illustrations for an actual trade paperback book, virtually the same as my published paperback books, fed through one of my publishers. Jeff helped out a Bristol, Connecticut school and it turned out to be such an overwhelming success as a motivation tool to get the kids to care about and work hard at their writing, that he decided to add it as a regular program.

7 WAYS TO REDUCE PROGRAM COSTS

  1. *COMBINE A FULL-DAY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM WITH A SAME-DAY, ONE-HOUR EVENING FAMILY PROGRAM ($201 savings): Combine these and Jeff will reduce his $500 Family Program rate from $500 to $299 (since his 1 1/2 hours of equipment setup is already done). After seeing the day programs, the kids run home and drag their parents back to school for the evening event.

    • This is a quote from a principal who said she ordinarily got 50-60 people for her evening events: "Over 200 enthusiastic attendees! The students were so enthralled with your daytime visit that they insisted that their families come back for the evening performance. The full-day and evening programs were both educational and entertaining. Students, teachers, parents and I enjoyed your visit and we're hoping that you can come back in the future."
Judith Richardson, Chase Street Elementary Principal, Somerset, MA

  2. GET MORE SCHOOLS TO JOIN IN AND EXPERIENCE THE EDUCATIONAL HUMOR ($100-$1800 savings): If other schools block-book with you, each school is entitled to the multi-day pricing, which is ANOTHER $100 off the single-day price. Beyond 2 block-booked days, each additional day that is block-booked entitles the recruiting school to an additional $50 discount. Or, you can take advantage of the weekly rate of $4200, an $1800 discount off of 5 individual days. So let other schools know when you are booking. Another school's adding on after you have booked still works, as long as you are the referrer.

  3. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE "ASSISTANCE" REBATE ($100 savings): Each school that helps Jeff with a few things gets a $100 rebate check. a) copy and distribute the book order forms the day that he's there, b) contact the local newspaper 2 weeks in advance of his visit, and c) get another school to send a previewer to see his assemblies (waved if there are 3 schools blocked-booked).

  4. INVITE ADDITIONAL PREVIEWERS FROM OTHER SURROUNDING SCHOOLS (unlimited savings): Each additional previewing elementary school (beyond the one required for the assistance rebate) earns you an additional $25.

  5. ENSURE SEVERAL BOOKS ARE ORDERED (unlimited savings): Each book sold through your school's order forms gets your school an additional $1. If 100 books are sold, you get $100.

  6. TITLE 1 FUNDING: Because Jeff's programs are educational, they are eligible for Title 1 funding.

  7. GRANTS: Your school may qualify for an educational grant. Jeff can help by providing information, or, in some cases, a prepared grant application.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT JEFF'S PROGRAMS:

"...At our last PTO meeting, parents said their children came home and wrote pages of poetry, even books after your presentation. We are always happy when children talk about the programs they saw at school at home and even more impressed when the subject matter carries over to free time. Thanks again for a wonderful visit."
Sarah Robinson, PTO Enrichment Coordinator, Page Elementary School, West Newbury, MA

"In my fifteen years of teaching, I have never seen a performer like Jeff Nathan. In addition to being captivatingly funny, musical, and whimsical, he provides curriculum-tied educational content in a multi-sensory format that makes poetry accessible to all children. If you only have one author visit your school, this is the one to get."
Kathleen Holland, Literacy Specialist, Lynch Elementary School, Winchester, MA

"This was, by far, the best set of presentations I have seen in our school system... funny, informative, inspiring, the kids LOVED them, AND they presented some difficult... concepts, like similes and metaphors, in a uniquely humorous and dramatic manner that the kids can relate to and remember. I am anxious to bring these programs to the rest of the district."
Dr. Marc Kerble, Winchester Schools Assistant Superintendent , Winchester, MA

"Thank you so much for the truly remarkable show. I have no doubt that I could write a nicely worded, long, drawn-out appreciative thank you letter. But it would by no means illustrate how truly captivated the students at RMMS were with your show. So I will simply quote a student who said it best "You Rock!". From the mouth of babes, Jeff you were sensational. Thank you ever so much!"
Kristine O. Murray, Richard Maghakian Memorial School, Media Enrichment Specialist, Brookline, NH

"Jeff thoroughly engaged the students, using a variety of audiovisual media, ranging from acoustic guitar to colorful costumes to cleverly designed powerpoint presentations. His talent as an author, entertainer, and a songwriter brings together a multiplicity of art forms in a very worthwhile, instructive manner. Students become active listeners and participate in the analysis and usage of excellent reading and writing techniques."
Anna Marie MacDonnell, PhD, Grade 4 Teacher, McGuire Elementary School N. Providence, RI
